I've been wondering what I can do with this little blog since I made it last month and it finally clicked for me. As someone who has a passion for small businesses, on top of having a small business, I always want to take the opportunity to highlight the ones in my own local community. We last minute decided on a pizza place we had never been by the Lupa Zoo with the kids for a late lunch. Going into this tiny pizzeria not knowing what to expect I had the fortunate experience of overhearing the owner say next year was their 60 year anniversary. They have been open since 1963!

I was blown away that such a small business could overcome such a large period of time in the growing world we're living in today. This sweet older Italian women was warm, welcoming and working hard to serve people hot fresh Italian food on mother's day of all days. Everything we had was great, the pizza was fabulous, and I was sure to bring home a slice of tiramisu for later. I encourage you to check this place out when you are in the area and are in the mood for some classic quality Italian American food.

Small businesses like this are disappearing everyday and they are truly the core of the American dream and our culture. Doing our part to shop small when we can, avoiding chain restaurants, big commercial stores, and going to local farmers markets are how we keep our hard earned money supporting our own local communities and their people.

Happy Mother's Day to Maria! Thank you for being so sweet and taking a moment to talk to me today and the great food!
