Some of my earliest memories growing up in Land-O-Lakes, Florida are baking boxed cakes with my grandfather. I'll always remember running from my mom's farm to my grandparents house and the first thing when you opened the door was a tiny little pantry always stocked with boxed cakes for me too choose from and play with. That is where my passion for confections really began. Being a traditional artist, experimenting with that passion became a practical way to express my creativity. Macarons were supposed to be just the hobby of a stay-at-home mother while pregnant with my daughter and raising my son but soon a love affair developed with these difficult, finicky treats. The hobby I often call a “labor of love” grew, organically, into my full-time job when I realized I had a natural talent for it. And so Mama's Macs & More was born.
As one of Connecticut's first cottage food licenses in 2019 I was proud to count myself among the small business owners I had always admired. Taking the next steps and becoming a vendor at farmer's markets was a dream come true as I got to not only become part of a local community but began to network with the independent businesses not as a customer but as a peer. Through the pandemic that followed soon after I gained so many amazing customers and loving business friends and without their support my business would not be where it is today.
I am lucky to wake up every day and bake what I love surrounded by so many talented people and such a loyal customer base. Being so close to that base and listening to their voices I ultimately decided to make every one of my culinary creations gluten-free as to offer a place where families dealing with difficult food allergies, especially those with young children, can always come for a treat. Having now just moved into a large gluten-free kitchen in Ellington I am excited to continue to grow and see where this venture takes me. I will forever be grateful to everyone that has propelled me forward on my journey that started as a young girl in Florida with a passion for sweets and all the macaron fans I get to meet along the way.
